These form part of a series of paintings titled The Centre Cannot Hold, which reflect on this time of heightened social and ecological uncertainty and unraveling.

I'm interested in the transient nature of things; and the sense of permanence that we project onto the physical and social structures that make up the world around us.

The recurring carousel stands in for our current globalized culture. A civilisation driven by an insatiable and accelerating spiral of consumption, distraction and profit margins surely cannot hold.
