Artificial Terrains

By  Margaret Inga
Inga's work revolves around an interest in manufacturing artificial terrains. By virtue of having been completely constructed, her photographed scenes have been divested of every hint of human presence and action, which also means they have no past, no historicity. Her work aims to create places absolutely devoid, in fact systematically purged, of all traces other than those pertaining to the physical making of the models. By doing this, she creates deliberately entropic, semi-abstract scenes from which, seemingly, nothing can develop.
