I am interested in words as classifiers, in the way in which they try to contain and neatly explicate things that are abstract and ephemeral. Lived experience can oftentimes be much messier and layered than that which is permitted by the linear structure of language. Therefore, language is both infinitely incompetent in doing the work describing bodily, emotional, lived experience, as well as being a necessary tool in naming and categorising, allowing those things that at times seem impossibly big to be reigned in, put into a little box, and be put away. In this work I used a found wooden pigeon hole cabinet and vinyl lettering for the labels on it. Each labeled compartment contains hundreds of hand-screenprinted notebook pages.
