Waking the Future

By
Waking the Future (c) Elliot V. Kotek
History is made when the waking world collides with fiction

On each repetition we
repress the past
Re-press the snooze button

Drift back into the
seamless
dreamless
senseless
Mirage.

The ignorance and indecision that scribes the license under which rules are
born
&
broken

Proverbial worms are caught early for easy reason
For history is easier to make when others are sleeping
For laws are easier to break when no-one’s watching
For burdens are easier to bare when no-one’s
judging
or
fudging
Together
Scaled
Opinions
Opinions based on the opinions of others.
Opinions based on the opinions of others who’ve past before them.
Opinions based on the opinions of others who got up early

Who got up early to write down rules for those who follow
Who got up early to write down rules who follow later
Who follow despite the movement of the world to a different part of the universe
Movement of the world to a different place in time
Movement of the world to where,
If you get up early enough,

You can change
alarm clocks
And write new words
And create a new story

Which I will
do
say
write
If I can ever get up from this place which pens my past

Sentences me to snooze-button pushing and

Dealing out dreams to those categorized indefinitely as listeners

Listeners who listen listen listen
boring
snoring
Us all straight into a dusty-jacketed almanac of
words
pictures
of
other people’s actions
Full of
words to read past
pictures to look beyond
actions to walk by and
rules to loop around

If fiction is again to be
formed/avoided
To ensure fact is
formed/avoided
By those who are
educated
ignorant
naive
informed
Then the past remains
uncopied
magnified
unaffected
shifted
Scripted, conned.
And conscripted.

And this remains a world where diction is for the dictator only

And so fiction is for those who fictate

Elections for those who lactate

And all and all for those who become great

For those who become Great

For those who
get up
stay up

late.

as an australian journalist/actor/screenwriter living in los angeles, Itch satisfies my craving for deconstructive fibre. i'm fortunate to have seen my words inked onto the papers of dozens of publications and, for ego and expression, it never gets old, always inspiring more work and more exploration. Give in to the Itch and it'll lure you in, over and over, until you bleed.
